Bow Tie Friday has gone to the dogs! I’m proud to introduce the first ever Great Lakes Prep collaboration and i’ts perfect for man’s best friend. Great Lakes Prep has teamed up with Sarah at Four Black Paws, a St. Joseph, Michigan-based pet product company, to design the Great Lakes Prep Dog Collar & Bow Tie Set ($31.95, free shipping in the US with code GLP2012).
Four Black Paws have been featured in the Press Gift Bags at the 2012 GBK Oscars Gift Lounge and in the Celebrity Swag Bags at the 2012 GBK MTV Movie Awards Gift Lounge. Ladies, Ryan Gosling and his dog George were even gifted one in May.
Sarah handmakes all her collars from cotton fabric lined with interfacing. Durability is ensured with high strength thread and triple stitched stress points coupled with a heavy duty cast nickel D-ring. The collar is 5/8″ to 1″ wide, depending on the size, although you can size up to 1.5″ or 2″ wide collars for a few dollars more. The collars are fully adjustable and standard sizes range from the extra small that fits a 7″-11″ neck to the extra large that fits a 17″-29″ neck.
And while your dog can wear the collar by itself, it looks even better with the cotton gingham bow tie. The bow tie is attached to the collar with a velcro strap and is the only time I’ll advocate not using a self-tie bow tie. The bow tie width ranges from 3″-7″ to match your dog’s size. Gentlemen, if you think the ladies flock when you’re normally walking your dog, just imagine the crowd when your dog’s wearing a bow tie.
The design itself is inspired by summers spent on Lake Michigan. The nautical navy anchor print on the collar paired with the sky blue gingham bow tie is reminiscent of summer days spent on a boat underneath a blue canopy dotted with wispy cirrus clouds.
