How to Dress for: The Northern Illinois-Toledo Game

Northern Illinois Huskies Toledo Rockets College Football HelmetIt’s hard to imagine the college football regular season is nearly finished.  The How to Dress for Gameday posts started all the way back on August 29 and with one or two posts every week nearly every FBS team in the Midwest has been covered.  In fact there is literally only one FBS game this week that meets the criteria for inclusion in the series (at least one team from the Midwest, no repeats), a MAC clash between Northern Illinois and Toledo.

It’s going to be absolutely frigid out tonight with temperatures expected to be below freezing so bundle up, toss on the long underwear and consider adding an extra layer via a few shots before kickoff.  This is a tilt between the top two teams in the West division and is well-deserving of its Wednesday night broadcast.

I’m sorry, but you are out of your mind if you think ANYONE that will even attend this awful game would wear anything close to what you’ve listed above. MAC Conference fans (as well as Big 10 fans) basically roll out of bed and wear sweatsuits to games. I think you’re trying too hard to bring the SEC prep culture to the Midwest. Nobody up here understands it and it cannot be replicated. Stick to NIU sweatsuits.

      Nuts.

I won’t disagree that the majority of Midwestern fans don’t dress at all like the post. That being said these are about how they should dress, not how they actually do dress. While it’s still small, there are pockets of fans in the Midwest that are putting a little more effort into what they wear to games and all many of the rest need is a little guidance.

I LOVE all of these great suggestions! Born and raised in Indiana, I think it’s great to bring a classier look to these games. I’d actually get embarrassed if I saw someone at a game in a sweatsuit. Let’s keep the sweats at the gym and your house, not for public. Nick, I look forward to your game day outfits every week – keep up the great work!
