How to Dress for: The Sunflower Showdown

How to Dress for Kansas Jayhawks Kansas State Wildcats College Football Game

It’s back to rivalry games this week with the Sunflower Showdown, the match up between Kansas and Kansas State.  The Showdown, taking its name from the Sunflower State, actually consists of a series of contests over various sports.  The football game is played for the Governor’s Cup, awarded since 1969.

The two schools first played in 1902 when Kansas shutout the Wildcats 16-0.  They have faced each other every season since 1911, making it the third-longest uninterrupted series in college football history.  While recent history would have you believe Kansas State holds a lopsided edge, Kansas actually leads the series 65-39-5 or 64-40-5 depending on who you ask (Kansas won the 1980 game but the Big Eight ordered the Jayhawks to forfeit after it found one of the players to be ineligible).  The Cup standings are 23-19-1 or 22-20-1 in favor of Kansas State.  This year’s game appears to have the makings of a blowout with the Wildcats ranked #7 and the Jayhawks 1-3 but there’s a reason the game is determined on the field and not on paper.

P.S.: Keep your eyes out for a bonus post Saturday morning.

Have you ever been to Manhattan, KS? Trust me, Silo Tech grads don’t dress that nice! Lol

I’ve followed your blog for quite a while now and never would have expected to see K-State features here for any reason! Also. The gentleman above me has clearly never stepped foot on Mass street in Lawrence to observe all the dirty barefoot hippies around. There are pleanty of sharply dressed K-Staters in MHK. God speed and GO STATE! EMAW!
