I’ve got to admit that it’s been awhile since I wore sunglass straps regularly. For some reason I took them off one day and never really replaced them. But more and more I’ve been realizing I need a pair on hand. I’ve gotten caught a few times recently with only a pants pocket to hang my sunglasses, a strategy that usually just ends up in them falling to the ground any time I bend down (which is frequently with a one-year-old). And I keep losing sunglasses in my car since I can’t just hang them from the rearview mirror. So maybe it’s time to reembrace the sunglass strap, albeit a more mature and grown up version like the Montauk Sounders from Sounder Goods.
The Montauk Sounders are a natural line extension for Sounder Goods. After numerous requests and a lengthy sourcing process, Sounder Goods was able to produce a longer leather strap. And while it seems like simply lengthening the flagship Classic Sounders would be easy, it was a lot more difficult then you’d imagine. Sounder Goods needed to find a leather that was both soft and lightweight enough to be comfortable for all day wear. The Montauk Sounders are three inches longer than the Classic Sounders and handmade in the USA. The Montauk Sounders come in seven colors, have two rivet color options and can be monogrammed. That makes the decision to reembrace the sunglass strap an easy one.
