When a brand takes a concept that’s seen frequently but uses it in a way that’s rarely seen, you have to step back and appreciate it. Consider the bar stripe. Long a staple on shirts, I surprisingly cannot recall seeing it done on a bow tie, especially as a vertical and not on the bias. It’s a concept so simple it’s amazing it hasn’t been done more often. The reason I mention this is that Southern Proper did just this with its newly released Bar Stripe Bow Tie.
The Bar Stripe Bow Tie isn’t your typical Southern Proper bow tie, as it lacks the brands signature printed design. Then again, a bar stripe on a bow tie isn’t typical either. Made from silk, the bow tie is available in six colorways. With a thicker stripe, there’s a bit of variation on how much of the stripe is present on each end of the bow, giving it the reversible-like ability to mix up how it’s tied. These bow ties will work swimmingly for any upcoming tailgates or just another day in the office.
